Natural beauty and strength from wood floors
Wood Flooring Options
Wood flooring is one of the most time-tested flooring options available today. The right wood floor can add luxury and value to your home, and, although there are resilient options meant to mimic these natural looks, there really is no perfect alternative. We at First Floors Carpet One carry wood floor options such as hardwood and cork in our Dallas, TX showroom.
When you think of wood flooring, hardwood flooring is definitely what first comes to mind. Hardwood offers natural warmth and beauty, and it seems to have a character and personality of its own when used in the right design.
There are two types of hardwood: solid and engineered. Solid hardwood gets its name from the fact that its planks are made from a single, solid strip of wood and nothing else. As a result, solid hardwood has a thick construction and can be refinished multiple times. Engineered hardwood, which is the preeminent engineered wood flooring option, is made from three to seven layers of real wood rather than one single strip. This layered construction means that engineered hardwood is more dimensionally stable than solid hardwood.
Cork flooring has been around for hundreds of years, but it only recently has become popular in homes and other residences. Given the unique construction, cork floors are more flexible than hardwood floors. They are therefore softer and more comfortable underfoot, and they also are more resistant to foot traffic and other impacts. In fact, any indents to the surface of your cork floor will either fully or partially recover!
